Pilot Media started with fixed media in 1993 and has been involved with producing Director projects ever since. If your product is education based, you might consider using Director. For desktop playback, Flash cannot compare to the diverse capabilities that Director offers. Over the years, we've designed, developed and programmed a lot of fine products, worked really hard, met some really nice people, and had a lot of fun. This area is still under construction, we will be offering Flash based picture books in the coming months to provide a deeper look into some of our work.
Mine Waste Technology program
Client: The Environmental Protection Agency. We worked closely with the internal developer to design, develop and program this disk. The main target audience was members of Congress and other politicians in order to inform and educate members of government the valuable environmental work that the Mine Waste Technologies Program does. The disk features 16 videos, numerous slide shows and links to other resources.


Diabetic Foot Care
Client: Developed as a contest entry. This production is an educational overview of foot care for diabetics, co-authored with Ana Lacativa. This production won 3rd prize at the Horizon awards in 2004.


U can too
Client: Developed as a contest entry.This production is an interactive storybook featuring games and activities co-authored with James Richardson. Designed, developed and programmed the interactive story book game, the coloring game and colloborated to create the introductory animation for this production. This production won 3rd place at teh Broadcast Education Association conference in Las Vegas, 2005.


Florida State University promo
Pilot Media sole authored this production, lead programming, production, interface design, information design, digital photographer and game design (see Gator hater). This production was a contribution to the College of Communication Interactive and New Communication Technologies program and was the recipient of the “Award of Excellence” in the Persuade/Sell category in the 2003 Broadcast Education Association Faculty International Festival of Film, Video and Media Arts Competition,

Montana Tech
We designed, developed and programmed this interactive credit-card sized disk. While it was small enough to fit in a pocket, the disk included a video, an interactive map, 18 panoramas and numerous links to introduce the University of Montana at Montana Tech.


Brain Cogs
Client: Fablevision. Our role was lead programmer / software engineer, instructional activities designer. This production is designed to guide junior high school students in developing test-taking strategies for standardized achievement and advancement exams. TO date, the production has garnered five major awards, most recently being recognized with teh Parent's Choice Award (2006).

Tips sales presentation tool
Client: Trinity Communication. We worked with the in-house designers to develop "TIPS" a slide show generator. This tool allows users to create, modify and save slide shows.The slide show tool has two modes; editing and presentation. An area inside the editor allows users to re-order and preview a slide show, much in the same way as Power point. Any slide show may be printed, previewed or run in presentation mode.


Test Pilot
This was Pilot Media's foray into product development and distribution. Test Pilot was distributed through Educational Resources for three years. The tool was designed to allow teachers to create, grade and distribute electronic tests over a network. Ultimately, Test Pilot became a plug-in that was included in numerous training products.

Star Wars, The Phantom Menace
Client: Hasbro Games to create full game play demonstrations and linear animation of Star Wars games to be marketed as hand held products. Programmed in Director, these are full screen color versions of the LCD games. These games are used for trade shows to allow users to preview game play prior to product release. We developed a total of four Star Wars games for use at trade shows.


Reprint Ready
Client:Total Learning Concepts. We designed, development and programmed this 1999 MIMC award winning interactive product. Includes a floating palette glossary, a real-time voice recording and answer checking, and captioned video clips. Test Pilot (a Pilot Media product) was bundled into this product under license agreement.


@History
Client: Houghton Mifflin. Design, development and programming of this cross-platform interactive history database which includes a sophisticated search engine, capable of searching and retrieving multimedia files by historical period, media type, or by key word criteria. A full-text search engine was also designed for key phrase or word search across multiple documents. A floating note pad allowed for saving, retrieving, and printing notes.


The Inside Line: SAT and ACT Interactive
Client: The Princeton Review. We redesigned the software and developed the lesson planner and installed tracking and scoring engines for this Cody-award winning series. These discs include features such as customized test evaluations, a study planner, user tracking systems, study plan evaluation and tracking, progress checking and flash reports downloaded from the Internet..


Managed Care Today
Client: Pinsoneault Associates. We designed, development and programmed this interactive training product intended to educate sales persons on recent trends in the health care industry. Includes a multi-level matching game, randomized to ensure accurate scoring. Test Pilot was integrated into this product under license agreement.


Author tools
Client: Butterworth-Heinemann. We designed, developed and programmed this tool for book authors. This tool affords the opportunity for book authors to rapidly prototype companion disks for written books. This product includes a database for managing data, and a play-back engine to interpret and build media displays on-the-fly. Created in conjunction with Aurora Graphics Inc..

The Right Start
Client: Addison-Wesley-Longman. We designed, developed and programmed this cross-platform interactive educational piece. THe product includes 13 quizzes that score user responses and several interactive exercises for learning time management. Created in conjunction with Aurora Graphics Inc..

Lotus Notes Mail Delivers
Client: Lotus Development Corporation. We developed several of these animation-intensive products for Lotus. The product demonstrates the capabilities and features of Notes and Notes Mail, included in three separate releases: Lotus Notes Mail, Lotus Notes Release 4, and a self-running marketing demonstration.


DMS 2.0 / DMS 2.5
Client: Seagate Software. We designed, developed and programmed two disks -- DMS 2.0 and 2.5. Designed for Windows, these products include printable information about the software as well as an installation manager that tracks license information to allow installation of trial and full versions of Seagate Software. Excellent graphic interface by BigBad Design.


¡Dime!
Client: DC Heath, Houghton Mifflin. Work on this project spanned more than two years, three titles and two different interactive development teams. ¡Dime! 1-2, ¡Dime! 5-6 and ¡Dime! 7-8 were developed with DC Heath new media group and Mazer Digital Media. ¡Dime! received the 1995 New Media Gold Medial award for excellence in education, and was finalist for interface design


. Discovering French Interactive
Client: DC Heath. This DC Heath new media project included two titles and three re purposed student versions. The development and production of DFi A, DFi B, and DFi C spanned 13 months. DFi A won the 1994 New Media Gold Medal award for excellence in education in addition to numerous other awards in recognition of excellence in education and technical achievement.


Postcards
Client: Curriculum Associates. Karen Jones design and Pilot Media teamed up and worked with the internal development group. Postcards is an educational title which focuses on writing and cross curriculum skill development. Ultimately, this piece won an award, but it was long after we finished our bit so we take no credit.
