2012 Adams, J., Lee, S. & Cortese, J. The acceptability of teaching certificates in hiring situations: A comparison of certificates earned online, partly online and in residential programs. Pages 1-25 Contemporary Issues in Teacher Education.
A quantitative and qualitative analysis was conducted on data collected in a national survey of high school principals (N = 683) was used to assess the acceptability of job applicant qualifications that included degrees earned either online, partly online, or in a traditional-residential teacher-training program.

This article is a review of literature printed between 1898 and 1940 that discussed post-secondary university extension programs by correspondence. The literature revealed a striking number of similar problems and successes with online distance education.

This article reviews the use of various online media employed by 406 colleges and universities. The findings indicate that a majority of web based courses use text as the principle media type to transmit information, and that instructional media methods are not clearly articulated.

A quantitative procedure was used to assess the scholarly accomplishments for promotion, tenure and merit. This academic accomplishment index (AAI) was developed from a statistical analysis of questionnaire results from university and college administrators (chairpersons, department heads and deans).
