Forty (40) depth interviews were conducted among Florida-based public relations practitioners to examine mentor-protégé relationship dynamics according to gender. The acceptance rate for this journal is 33%.

2006 Adams, Jonathan. The part played by instructional media in distance education. Journal of Studies in Media & Information Literacy Education. 6:2, May, 2006.

This article reviews the use of various online media employed by 406 colleges and universities. The findings indicate that a majority of web based courses are taught by using text as the principle media type to transmit information and that instructional media methods are not clearly articulated. The acceptance rate for this journal is 45%.

2003 Adams, Jonathan. Assessing faculty performance for merit: An academic accomplishment index. Journalism and Mass Communication Educator. 58:3, Autumn, 2003.

A quantitative procedure was used to assess the scholarly accomplishments for promotion, tenure and merit. This academic accomplishment index (AAI) was developed from a statistical analysis of questionnaire results from university and college administrators (chairpersons, department heads and deans). Admissions officer-gatekeepers were identified at the 125 medical programs in the United States and surveyed for gatekeeper perceptions of online degrees as a credential for medical school applications

2008 Cortese, Juliann & Adams, Jonathan. Digital scholarship: Are colleges of communication prepared?

This article is based on a survey of 30 colleges of communication that examines hiring and promotion issues when digital media is a basis for demonstrating scholarly accomplishment. A questionnaire was sent to faculty and administration of each department in response to position announcements posted on the Chronicle of Higher Education, resulting in 127 respondents.

This article is being prepared for submission.

2008 Adams, Jonathan & DeFleur, Margaret. The acceptability of online degrees in IT hiring.

The research team is currently collecting data for this project. This survey asks hiring gatekeepers in the computer software and IT management industries whether an online degree is as acceptable as a residential-traditional degree.
